A HUNDRED YEARS OF PROMOTING THE ONENESS OF HUMANKIND
The British Bahá'í community has played a full role within the wider global Bahá'í community in making known the Bahá'í teachings on the oneness of humankind. 'Abdu'l-Bahá twice visited the British Isles, and the diversity of his audiences as much as the record of his many talks during those visits illustrate the importance of unity for the future of humanity. At a national level, the Bahá'í community in London provides support to many internationally-oriented activities, such as the revival of the World Forestry Charter Gatherings, first started by pioneer environmentalist (and Bahá'í), Richard St Barbe Baker, the 1994 meeting of which was held at St James Palace and opened by HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The National Bahá'í Women's Committee was in 1995 approved as an associate member of the Women's National Commission.
The British Bahá'í community was one of the Non-Governmental Organisations accredited to the World Summit for Social Development (Copenhagen March 95) where its delegates helped to distribute the Bahá'í International Community's statement, "The Prosperity of Humankind", which addresses the issues of social and economic development and the evolution of global society and world peace. More recently, the Bahá'í community participated prominently in the Habitat II Conference in Istanbul. British Bahá'ís have been actively involved in other similar U.N. summits and conferences, and with Global Forum 94, in Manchester.
In 1994, British Bahá'ís were invited by the One World Trust to help re-establish the Parliamentary Group for World Government which now hold regular meetings in the House of Commons. The Bahá'í community played a key role in the Conference on Global Governance in November 1996 attended by ninety representatives from ten nations, including Sir Shridath Ramphal, co-chairman, Commission on Global Governance. British Bahá'ís are active in the work of the European Bahá'í Business Forum, which participates in United Nations-arranged meetings of Non-Governmental Organisations.

Oneness University is a result of noble vision of Sri Bhagavan and Sri Amma. This is a temple of all religions.Totally embracing all benefits, its mammoth three floor marble structure, now nearing completion, will be Asia’s largest hall without pillars, where 8000 people will be meditating together at one time. To many Christians, Jay Gary seemed to be a tireless soldier for Christ, compelled by one essential purpose: to share the gospel in every corner of the world. His credentials as a sincere servant of God seemed beyond reproach.
But why would he join forces with the interfaith World Network of Religious Futurists? Or with Robert Muller, the former under-secretary of the United Nations, whose spiritual tutors include former Buddhist UN leader U Thant and Alice Bailey, a medium who received her occult teachings from her spirit guide, the Tibetan Master Djwhal Khul?
The World Goodwill Newsletter (date) published by Lucis (formerly Lucifer) Press, which was founded by Foster and Alice Bailey, offers a clue. It describes BEGIN, the global networking organization founded and directed by Jay Gary, and endorses the relationship between Gary and Muller:
"In a letter to World Goodwill, BEGIN Executive Director Jay E. Gary writes: “One common project we are developing is an ‘International Year of Thanksgiving’ in 2000, especially through the United Nations. Dr. Robert Muller has given leadership to this proposal."
On the first page of his Bimillennial Research Report (March-April 1992), Gary gave an uncritical endorsement of Robert Muller. He also announced the coming “World Parliament of Religions” and approved the UN vision of a global civilization:
"United Nations Proclamation. In his latest book, The Birth of a Global Civilization, former Assistant Secretary-General, Robert Muller, proposes the United Nations proclaim the Year 2000 as an International Year of Thanksgiving, preceded by 'unprecedented thinking, action, and determination to solve our remaining problems in order to enter the third millennium with a clean slate.' [...]
Apparently Jay Gary’s goals match those of Robert Muller. No doubt, his endorsement of Robert Muller has opened some high-level Christian doors to the New Age global agenda. World evangelization is no new phenomenon to Muller, who has been persuading world leaders for decades to follow a more unifying spiritual path. According to Lucis Press’ World Goodwill Newsletter...
"In 1978 Robert Muller and Margaret Mead challenged the people of the world to prepare for the year 2000 by a 'worldwide collaborative process of unparalleled thinking, education and planning for a just and sustainable human world order.' ...[An] international team of scholars have designed the project as a creative response to what they refer to as 'six compelling essentials': a New Sense of Power; Transcultural Dialogue; Citizen Participation; a Global Forum; a Holistic Perspective; a Spiritual Renaissance; environmental security; Economic Security; and Disarmament.”

Meditation on ?the United Nations
Allow me to invite you now to focus your mind on the most inhuman act of destruction you can find in your memory. And now take this, together with all human violence, all human greed, injustice, stupidity, hypocrisy, all human misery, and lift it all up, with all the strength of your heart, into the stream of compassion and healing that pulsates through the heart of the world – that center in which all our hearts are one. This is not an easy gesture. It may almost seem too difficult for some of us. But until we can reach and tap with our deepest roots this common source of concord and compassion, we have not yet claimed within our own hearts that oneness that is our common human birthright.
Standing firm, then, in this oneness, let us close our eyes.
Let us close our eyes to bring home to ourselves our blindness as we face the future.
Let us close our eyes to focus our minds on the inner light, our one common light, in whose brightness we shall be able to walk together even in the dark.
Let us close our eyes as a gesture of trust in the guidance of the one Spirit who will move us if we open our hearts.
“One is the human Spirit,” but the human Spirit is more than human, because the human heart is unfathomable. Into this depth let us silently sink our roots. There lies our only source of peace.
In a moment, when I will invite you to open again your eyes, I will invite you also to turn in this Spirit to the person next to you with greeting of peace. Let our celebration culminate and conclude in this gesture, by which we will send one another forth as messengers of peace. Let us do this now.
