A volte mi fate ridere voi scienziati da salotto, anzi da laurea breve regalata coi punti Mira Lanza.
Eppure, dovresti sapere cosine come queste:

George F. R. Ellis, noto ed insigne cosmologo, scriveva su Scientific American nel 1995: “La gente deve rendersi conto che esistono più modelli che possono spiegare le osservazioni [astronomiche] finora compiute… ad esempio, io potrei costruirvi un modello di universo sfericamente simmetrico, con la Terra al centro, e non si potrebbe negare la sua validità sulla base delle osservazioni. Si potrebbe escluderlo solo su basi filosofiche. In questo, dal mio punto di vista, non c’è assolutamente niente di male. Ma ciò che vorrei evidenziare è che noi utilizziamo criteri filosofici per scegliere i nostri modelli. Buona parte della moderna cosmologia cerca di nascondere questo fatto”.

In realtà, l'insigne cosmologo sudafricano dovrebbe spiegare meglio, più che su basi filosofiche le "verità" scientifiche poggiano su basi probalistiche.
Ossia, un determinato insieme di osservazioni ha maggiori probabilità di derivare da un certo modello di realtà, dunque si definisce quel modello di realtà come la realtà vera.
Ma può darsi che si sia sfigati e che ancora non si sia ottenuta, ad esempio per motivi tecnici, quell'osservazione che unita al gruppo già ottenuto cambia totalmente la storia, rendendo più probabile un altro modello di realtà.
E la stessa cosa detta per il modello copernicano vale anche per la gravità e per la terra cava, ad esempio.

FRSSAf, (born 11 August 1939), is the Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Complex Systems in the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He co-authored The Large Scale Structure of Space-Time with University of Cambridge physicist Stephen Hawking, published in 1973, and is considered one of the world's leading theorists in cosmology.[1] He is an active Quaker and in 2004 he won the Templeton Prize.[2] From 1989 to 1992 he served as President of the International Society on General Relativity and Gravitation. He is a past President of the International Society for Science and Religion. He is an A-rated researcher with the NRF.

Ellis was a vocal opponent of apartheid during the National Party reign in the 1970s and 1980s, and it is during this period that Ellis' research has focused on the more philosophical aspects of cosmology, for which he won the Templeton Prize. He was also awarded the Order of the Star of South Africa by Nelson Mandela, in 1999. On 18 May 2007, he was elected a Fellow of the British Royal Society.

In 2005 Ellis appeared as a guest speaker at the Nobel Conference in St. Peter, Minnesota.


edit: ovviamente, il tutto per dire che se non è dimostrato neanche il modello copernicano, figuriamoci lo sbarco sulla Luna di cui le uniche prove sono la parola della NASA...
